During December of last year, a total of 1 thousand new enterprises were registered. Compared to the previous month, the number of registered enterprises increased by 8.8%. While compared to December of the previous year, there was an increase of 6% in registered enterprises.
The most popular economic activities during this month were wholesale and retail trade, including repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles with 252 enterprises (25.2%), professional, scientific and technical activities with 120 enterprises (12%), accommodation and food services with 110 enterprises (11%), and manufacturing with 99 enterprises (9.9%).
Regarding the size of enterprises, the micro-enterprise category (0–9 employees) dominates, with a total of 988 enterprises registered. In the small enterprise category (10–49 employees), 12 enterprises were registered, while in the medium and large enterprise categories no enterprises were registered during this month.
Regarding the geographical spread of registered enterprises at the regional level: Prishtina Region leads with 500 registered enterprises (50%), Prizren Region with 105 (10.5%), Gjilan Region with 99 (9.9%), Ferizaj Region with 87 (8.7%), Mitrovica Region with 85 (8.5%), Gjakova Region with 65 (6.5%), and Peja Region with 59 (5.9%).
But during December last year, there were not only new companies that were registered. During this year, there were also those that disappeared. According to ASK data, in December last year, a total of 135 companies disappeared.
